Why We Formed
We are proud alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the University of Virginia, united by a deep love for the University. We formed Wahoos4UVA to defend UVA from an orchestrated campaign of misinformation and political pressure headed by a small faction designed to undermine its leadership, distort its values, and damage its future. We feel it is our collective responsibility to speak up when we see our alma mater under threat from those who seek to tear it down.
Recent attacks on the University’s leadership are not grounded in fact. They misrepresent President Ryan's record, exploit grief and division, and attempt to pressure UVA’s Board of Visitors into surrendering the University’s independence to partisan forces. That is not what Thomas Jefferson meant when he spoke of following truth wherever it may lead.
We stand for truth.
We stand for integrity.
And we stand with President Jim Ryan.
