About Wahoos 4 UVA

We are proud alumni and friends of the University of Virginia, united by a deep love for the University. We formed Wahoos4UVA to defend UVA from an orchestrated campaign of misinformation and political pressure designed to undermine its leadership, distort its values, and damage its future.

President Jim Ryan has led UVA with vision, humility, and courage. Under his leadership, the University has expanded access and affordability, strengthened academic excellence, and preserved the free exchange of ideas. He has honored UVA’s commitment to truth, inquiry, and service while navigating complex national challenges. In the process, he has worked tirelessly to protect UVA from politicization.

Recent attacks on President Ryan are not grounded in fact. They misrepresent his record, exploit grief and division, and attempt to pressure UVA’s Board of Visitors into surrendering the University’s independence to partisan forces. That is not what Thomas Jefferson meant when he spoke of following truth wherever it may lead.

We launched Wahoos4UVA because we believe UVA deserves better. We cannot allow our University to be hijacked by a small, radical faction of disgruntled alumni. We have a responsibility to speak up when we see our alma mater under threat from those who seek to tear it down.

We stand for truth. We stand for integrity. And we stand with President Jim Ryan.
